A Shift in Platforms: Moving to Ghost

I’m writing today with an important update about where I’ll be sharing my words, reflections, and offerings moving forward. After much thought, I’ve decided to move my writing to a new home: Ghost.

Why the change?

This is about alignment—between the work I do, the values I hold, and the platforms I use. Through the work of many dedicated people, it has become clear that Substack has chosen not to remove or meaningfully address the presence of Nazi sympathizers and other extremist voices on its platform. This is not a neutral stance—it is a choice that enables harm.

As someone committed to anti-racism, abolition, and building ecosystems of care, I cannot continue to root my work in a space that hosts and profits from ideologies designed to destroy. Ecosystemic belonging asks us to notice what we are connected to and how those connections shape us. If we know a root system is poisoned, we have a responsibility to replant elsewhere. Even if this shift costs more financially, ethos matters more than convenience or price—solidarity should cost us something.

Why Ghost?

Ghost offers greater ownership over my work, my archives, and your information as subscribers. It is open-source, non-profit-aligned, and offers more creative freedom alongside stronger privacy protections—soil I can actually root into.

What does this mean for you?

The good news: nothing changes for you. Whether you are a paid or free subscriber, you’ll continue to receive my emails just as you always have—simply from a new address. All past posts and subscriber information have been safely migrated to Ghost, where your data will be better protected.

In a few weeks, I’ll close this Substack space. You won’t receive posts here anymore, but you will keep hearing from me—just with a slightly different return address in your inbox.

Why it matters.

For me, this move is also about stewardship—of my writing, of our shared conversations, and of the community and ecosystem we’ve built together. The shift to Ghost offers a space not dependent on algorithms or beholden to corporate priorities, and one where our connection is less vulnerable to being mined or monetized without consent.

Thank you for being here, for reading, and for continuing to journey alongside me. This is simply the next chapter, and I’m glad we get to turn the page together.

With care,
Uma
